Break the Ice with Ease at Any Party! Whether you’re hosting a backyard barbecue, a virtual meet-up, or an office holiday party, starting with some fun icebreaker games can set the tone for a lively and engaging event. Here are some of our favorite party icebreakers that will have everyone laughing and getting to know each other.

Two Truths and a Lie

This classic game is perfect for any gathering. Each person takes turns sharing three statements about themselves – two truths and one lie. The rest of the group has to guess which statement is the fib. It’s a great way to learn interesting facts and get people talking.

Two Truths: I’ve climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, and I can play the piano by ear. One Lie: I once rode an elephant in Thailand.

Speed Networking

Similar to speed dating but for everyone! Set a timer for 3-5 minutes, and have guests rotate partners to introduce themselves and share one fun fact about their career or hobbies. When the buzzer goes off, switch partners and repeat until everyone has mingled with most of the group.

Photo Scavenger Hunt

Create a list of items or concepts related to your theme or location (e.g., “something blue,” “an old book”). Divide guests into teams and give them cameras (or have them use their smartphones) to snap pictures of everything on the list. The first team to complete the list wins!

Human Bingo

Create bingo cards with squares containing statements that could apply to your guests, like “Has traveled abroad,” “Speaks a foreign language,” or “Loves spicy food.” As each statement is called out, people mark their cards if it applies to them. The first person to get five in a row wins.

Storytelling Relay

This game requires quick thinking and creativity. Start with one person telling the beginning of a story. After 15-30 seconds, they pass off to another person who continues the narrative. This goes around the circle until everyone has added their piece or you reach the end of your time limit. It’s hilarious to hear how wild stories can get!

Two Words

This game is simple yet effective for sparking conversations. Give each person two random words, and they must create a story that incorporates both words. For example, “banana” and “lighthouse.” This can lead to some pretty funny scenarios!

Words: “Banana” and “Lighthouse”

Hot Seat Charades

One person acts out a word or phrase while the rest of the group tries to guess what it is. For an added twist, have someone in the hot seat holding a phone with a list of words they cannot use when describing their act (e.g., “movie,” “actor,” and “film”). This forces them to get creative!

Spot the Lie

Choose one person to be the storyteller. They tell three stories – two true events from their life and one made-up story. The rest of the group tries to guess which is the lie based on clues in the story. It’s a fun way to learn more about your guests and see how good they are at spotting BS!

Travel Bucket List

This game encourages travel talk and can help you discover new places to visit. Have each person share one place they dream of visiting and why. You might even decide as a group which destination you’d like to explore next year!

My dream trip is to the Taj Mahal in Agra, India because I've always been fascinated by Mughal architecture and the story behind it.
